A fire pit built from the same material as architectural landmarks does more than warm the air — it becomes the center of your outdoor space for decades to come. The HomeBridge GFRC Fire Pit is engineered for permanence, designed to your specifications, and built to hold up to every season without asking anything of you in return. This is the last fire pit you will ever buy.

Why GFRC?

GFRC stands for Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete — a cement-based matrix reinforced with alkali-resistant glass fibers. The glass fibers do something ordinary concrete cannot: they arrest micro-cracks before they spread. Under thermal stress, mechanical load, or repeated freeze-thaw cycles, the material holds together where standard concrete eventually fails.

Here is what that means in practice:

  • 12,500 psi compressive strength — Regular concrete tops out at 3,000–4,000 psi. GFRC is roughly three to four times stronger, which is why it stays structurally sound under years of heating, cooling, and outdoor exposure.
  • 2,000+ psi flexural strength — It bends before it breaks. That matters when ground shifts or temperature swings create stress that would crack a conventional concrete product.
  • True freeze-thaw immunity — Water cannot penetrate GFRC's dense matrix, so there is nothing to freeze and expand inside the material. The cracking and spalling that destroys ordinary outdoor concrete after a few northern winters simply does not happen here.
  • 400°F to sub-zero, night after night — The same fire pit that handles a full wood-burning fire in July handles a Minnesota January without any surface degradation.
  • 50+ year lifespan — This is not a projection. It is a function of the material's density, strength, and resistance to the elements that destroy lesser products.

Description

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete combines a cement-based matrix with alkali-resistant glass fibers. The glass fibers prevent micro-cracks from spreading under stress. This matters when you're dealing with temperature swings from 400-degree flames to sub-zero winter nights.

The material delivers 12,500 psi compressive strength and over 2,000 psi flexural strength. Regular concrete typically maxes out around 3,000-4,000 psi compressive strength.

But here's what matters more for outdoor fire pits: GFRC is immune to freeze-thaw cycles. Water can't penetrate and expand inside the material.

    FAQs

How do I choose between gas and wood burning?

Gas (natural gas or propane) offers convenience — push-button ignition, adjustable flame height, and no ash cleanup. Wood burning delivers a traditional fire experience with crackling sound and the option to cook over an open flame. If you have an existing natural gas line near your outdoor space, that is often the easiest long-term option. Propane is a good choice if you want gas convenience without running a line. Wood burning requires no utility connection at all. All three configurations use the same GFRC fire pit body — the choice is purely about how you want to use it.

    Shipping and Financing?

Free shipping to all lower 48 states is included in the price. Shop Pay financing is available starting at $391/month — apply at checkout with no impact to your credit score to see your options.

Does the fire pit require any maintenance?

Routine maintenance is minimal. For gas models, inspect the burner and connections at the start of each season. For wood-burning models, clear ash after use and check the interior surface periodically. The GFRC exterior does not require sealing, painting, or any surface treatment. It is designed to weather naturally and hold up without intervention.

How does GFRC hold up in harsh weather?

GFRC does not absorb water, so freeze-thaw cycles — the primary cause of cracking in outdoor concrete — are not a concern. The material maintains its structural integrity from summer heat through winter cold without any seasonal treatment or covering required. You can leave it outside year-round.

How is the fire pit installed?

Installation takes approximately 2 hours with two people. The unit arrives prefabricated — there is no curing, no mixing, and no masonry work required on-site. You position it, make your gas connection or prepare your wood-burning setup, and it is ready to use. Detailed installation instructions are included with every order.

Who do I turn to for installation?

Contact a local Landscaping or Hardscaping Company and they should be able to help you.  Installation instructions are available at the website and you can alway have them call Homebridge for assistance.
